Pair of Irish Sterling Silver Candlesticks, 1969

About the Item

A pair of Irish cast sterling silver candlesticks by Royal Irish Silver Ltd, Dublin 1969, with import marks for The Sheffield Assay Office. The ornate candlesticks are of baluster shaped form, having detailed foliate work to the nozzles and upper knopp; with the associated detachable sconces being finished in the style of the candlesticks. The candlestick columns have an eight-sided design with shell caps, and four individual masks to the lower knopp, that leads to a shaped base with a further four cast masks on a shell background and stepped detail. Date: - 1969. Engraving: - The candlesticks are unengraved. Maker: - Royal Irish Silver Ltd. Measurement: - The candlesticks measure 10.7 cm (length of base) x 15.4 cm (height). Weight: - The pair of candlesticks weigh 451.7g + 429.6g = 881.3 grams. Condition: - The candlesticks are in good condition with light surface scratches commensurate with age.
