This lovely pair of tumbler cups were made in Sheffield by Sterling Silverware Limited
a big Sheffield manufacturer of silver in that period in time.
The silver tumbler cup was first introduced in the early eighteenth century.
A thick disc of silver was hammered into the tumbler shape with more weight at the bottom,
so that if the tumbler was knocked over it would immediately bounce back up so that some of your
liquor whether it be wine or spirit would still be there with very little being spilt!
