Cornice portafotografie rettangolare in argento 9251000 dorato con smalto traslucido a fuoco su guillochè. Stile moderno contemporaneo. Vetro molato. Pannello in velluto blu. Dimensioni esterne cm. 10 x 13, interne cm. 6 x 9. Peso gr. 136. Disegnata da Renato Salimbeni nel 1960 su ispirazione di precedenti manufatti sempre della ditta Salimbeni, e fabbricata a Firenze con lavorazione manuale di valenti artisti artigiani con lastra di alto spessore e grossi rinforzi adatti a sostenere numerose cotture di smaltatura a gran fuoco a circa 800° C
GUILLOCHE
Il guilloché è una lavorazione artigianale eseguita su metalli per lo più preziosi, che consente di ottenere superfici incise con motivi geometrici complessi e ripetuti.
L'incisione guilloché è stata inventata a metà del 1800 in Svizzera dai produttori di orologi per impreziosire i quadranti dei loro lussuosi manufatti.
La tecnica consiste nell'incidere il metallo con un bulino utilizzando una macchina con comandi per lo più manuali. (vedi foto nella galleria)
Un copiatore seguendo la sinuosità di alcune matrici poste sulla macchina trasmette un movimento all'oggetto sottoposto a incisione, ottenendo così che il bulino "tagli" il metallo. Spostando le posizioni delle matrici e del copiatore si ottengono precise incisioni intrecciate di tipo geometrico pressoché infinito e la loro continua differenziazione aggiunge sicuramente valore agli oggetti che vengono prodotti.
La manualità richiesta per eseguire questa operazione è altamente specializzata, le macchine esistenti sono molto vecchie, in quanto non c'è mai stato un mercato di massa e soprattutto per la conservazione dell'arte. Dopo l'incisione si procede generalmente con la smaltatura a fuoco, un procedimento meticoloso e molto lungo durante il quale la superficie incisa a guilloché viene ricoperta da vari strati di polvere di vetro colorata e cotta in piccoli forni speciali a una temperatura compresa tra i 700 e gli 800 °C.
Il risultato di trasparenza e perfezione può richiedere anche numerose cotture, almeno 10 per un singolo colore, per superfici con più colori si può arrivare anche a 50 cotture. Si applica un colore alla volta e poi si cuoce, gli smalti utilizzati hanno una miscela diversa in modo che quando si posa il colore successivo quello precedente non si sposti.
L'inclinazione delle superfici di un oggetto può creare grandi difficoltà sia per l'incisione a guilloché che nella fase di cottura dello smalto in quanto il posizionamento della macchina diventa più complesso e si richiede una grande abilità e competenza mentre la liquefazione dello smalto produce situazioni complesse che solo il più alto livello di artigianalità può realizzare.
Nella produzione Salimbeni, l'incisione a guilloché e la smaltatura sono le lavorazioni principali da più di un secolo e si ritrovano in quasi tutti i prodotti. Nella costruzione di un oggetto Salimbeni parte da un disegno, che può essere fornito anche dal cliente, per costruire a mano la struttura con lastre d'argento di diversi spessori. Ottenuta la forma necessaria con saldature e rifiniture, lavorazioni comuni ai bravissimi argentieri, si procede con l'incisione guilloché e la successiva smaltatura, oltre a tutte le lucidature finali e le finiture galvaniche, per dorature e/o altro.
