A Rare Silver Passover Seder Plate, Austria 1844 Judaica
About the Item
A Rare Silver Passover Seder Plate, Austria 1844
Circular outer rim supports wirework stems connected to a central knop and oblong shaped handle. Six bowls sit on round hanging supports connected and separated by two-part wirework stems attached to the outer rim which is set on three small foliage shaped legs. Each bowl has the name of the food which it holds etched on the lower part of the dome shaped bowls.
What is unique about this seder plate is that there is one bowl which has the words "Mei Melach" meaning 'salt waters', etched into its side and is used for dipping the Karpas herb into. These words and bowl are not normally found on traditional seder plates.

Overall Good condition, rim of supporting tray is slightly bent with some dents, bowls have some scratches.
