Set of 12 Baltimore, 1816, coin silver tablespoons by John Erwin. A superb set with the assay mark of that year to a purity of 91.66% (sterling is 92.5%). Given the popularity of soups & stews, these were primarily soup spoons of generous size. Elongated, graceful handles with chamfered, pointed shoulders. Monogram "TC". 23.55 troy oz. Belden, p. 158; Goldsborough, pp 121, 181; Pleasants & Sill, pp 30, 119, 277, 294 & Plates 2 & 3.
