Shreve & Co. two-handled sterling silver, mahogany, and glass overtop gallery tray in Art Deco style. Its impressive dimensions are 25'' in length by 17'' in width by 3'' in height, and bears hallmarks and a monogram as shown.
Shreve & Co. is an established retailer of jewelry, from timepieces to diamonds, headquartered in San Francisco, California. Incorporated in 1894 by George Rodman and Albert J. Lewis, it is considered the oldest commercial establishment in San Francisco. The San Francisco Museum and Historical Society has the silver spade used by San Francisco Mayor James Rolphe at the groundbreaking for city hall and the civic center, and other objects made by Shreve & Co.

This fine antique George V sterling silver tea tray has a rounded navette shaped form.
The surface of the tray is plain and unembellished.
The flared galleried border is embellished with pierced arch and vertical pale decoration accented with circular motifs to the elevating ends.
The upper rim of the hallmarked galleried border is ornamented with a band of applied reed decoration.
