An Intriguing Silver American Mezuzah Case made by Selma, Circa 1980.
What makes this Mezuzah case so interesting is the form that the shape the mezuzah has is not very common. Mezuzah cases are usually in one solid form with some sort of compartment to safely secure the scroll placed within.
This Mezuzah case reminds us of a spice tower which similarly has many cavities to smell the spices within. Spice towers are also made in the form of towers hence the name, and they have meaning and cultural innuendoes that influence the design of the towers.
With this Mezuzah case, it is made in the form of castle towers each with increasing heights with a couple of them capped with plastic turrets. Below the towers, we find a balustrade with crenellations encompassing all five towers.
A scroll is placed within the tallest tower from below and two applied rings at the side and on the bottom are used for securing the mezuzah case to a persons doorway inside their home.
