About the Item
A wonderful large cow horn beaker with glass bottom and silver cartouche by silversmith Thomas Johnson. Sterling silver bands mounted top and bottom, hallmarked London 1869. Blonde colouring with some figuring to the horn and an engraved symbol to the cartouche.
Makers mark for Thomas Johnson who is recorded by the British Museum in London as having premises at this time in Dyers Buildings, Holborn, London - makers of a wide range of silver small work who supplied several retailers.
Dimensions: 18.5cm/ 7¼ inches (height) x 12cm/ 4¾ inches (diameter at the rim).
Bentleys are Members of LAPADA, the London and Provincial Antique Dealers Association.
