About the Item

A set of eight English Staffordshire porcelain Imari pattern handled table knives, circa 1849 - 1860, in the manner of Royal Crown Derby. In the original fitted wood presentation case. Showing the marks for Harrison & Howson, Sheffield, England, entered in 1849. The porcelain handles are transfer printed with a floral Imari pattern, in the typical colors of cobalt blue and bittersweet red, with hand applied gilded accents. The blades are fitted into the handles with a silver ferrule and show English hallmarks. The handle terminals have inset, silver end-caps. The blades are EP&NS, electro plated nickel silver. Measures: Knives 7.75 in. L x .75 in. W x .75 in. H Box 10.25 Sq. x 2.25 in. H The knives are in good antique condition, showing the expected light wear due to age. Minor lining to the handles. The blades fit tightly in the handles. Unpolished, showing patina. The wood box is in very good condition, the engraving plate is missing from the lid.
