About the Item

Introducing a rectangular tray made of mulberry wood from the Showa period in Japan. This gem was carefully carved from a single piece of solid wood using the mulberry tree, which has been popular in Japan since ancient times. The deep, dark brown surface of the wood has a beautiful flowing grain characteristic of mulberry wood, and quietly radiates a sense of presence. In order to maximize the texture of the material, the decoration is modest and the form is simple. Even the soft curves of the four corners are gentle to the touch and graceful throughout. Measuring approximately 43 x 25 cm, it is an easy size to incorporate into everyday use at home. It can be used in a wide range of situations, such as with coffee and bread in the morning, tea cakes and teacups in the afternoon, or as a transferring vessel for entertaining. Its moderate thickness and lightness make it easy to handle and stress-free to carry. Although there are some age spots and signs of use, there is no noticeable warping, and the overall condition is very good. The bottom surface is beautifully finished, showing careful attention to detail. In particular, the craftsmanship seen in the carving of the corners is understated, but gives a sense of certain beauty. In Japan, where the culture of sencha tea is as old as the Chinese, the culture of trays has long been nurtured. This tray is part of that tradition, but it also possesses a universal beauty that has transcended the ages and still blends in with daily life. It blends seamlessly into modern life and gently complements dining tables and spaces, regardless of whether they are Japanese or Western. Every time you use it in your daily life, you will feel the warmth of the wood in the palm of your hand and see the soft luster of the wood. Its quiet presence adds a spoonful of richness to your life. Size: W43 x D25 x H2.7 cm Weight: 696g
