About the Item

A very fine set of six George III Silver Gilt Table Spoons made in London in 1802 by William Sumner. The Spoons are of the finest quality and are modelled in the fiddle, thread and shell pattern. The spoons are double struck, the pattern being on the front and the back. Each is very well marked and engraved at the top of the stem with a contemporary Crest. The Spoons are in excellent condition and of an excellent gauge and weight. The spoons all have good tips to the bowls, with no wear. Additional information: Length: 8.75 inches, 21.88 cm.

The teaspoons are of a most unusual design and are modeled in the Hanoverian style. The shaped stems display a raised bearded male mask surrounded by Rococo shell and scroll details. The reverse of the stem displays foliate designs and a vacant Rococo scroll cartouche.
