Antique 1930s Danish Sterling Silver Coffee Pot by Georg Jensen

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George VI Danish sterling silver side handled coffee pot/jug made by George Jensen; an addition to our silver teaware collection This exceptional antique Danish sterling silver coffee jug has a circular rounded form. The surface of this fine example of antique silverware has a planished finish. The coffee pot is fitted with a push fit domed cover surmounted with the original sterling silver topped globular carved wood finial, encircled to the lower portion with an applied band of bead decoration, all in the Arts and Crafts style. This antique silver coffee jug retains the original carved side-handle featuring further bead decoration to the waisted silver sockets. This antique coffee pot/jug has a plain swept spout; the spout junction is perpendicular to the handle. The underside of this coffee pot bears the contemporary engraved inscription '30TH June 1943, G.M.S.'. The hallmarks struck to the underside of the body include: Maker's mark: Georg Jensen (these marks were used between 1933-1944) Silver quality/purity mark: 925.S, Sterling, .925 (925/1000) Country mark: Denmark Importer's mark: G.J LD (Georg Jensen Ltd) Import hallmark: London Import date mark: C (1938) Such examples struck with full London import hallmarks are rare to the market. Condition This antique side handle silver coffee jug is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The interior of the coffee jug/pot has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use. The Danish and full British import hallmarks struck to the underside of the body are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique silver coffee services.
