Ceramic Crackle Gazle Tureen with Lid and Plate, 19th Century

About the Item

Add a touch of timeless French charm to your table with this exquisite antique soup tureen and matching underplate. Crafted from glazed ceramic with a rich cream-colored crackle glaze, this elegant piece features ornate handles adorned with expressive bearded faces, evoking classical mythology or Renaissance grotesques. The subtle patina, including aged chips and beautiful crazing throughout the surface, speaks to its authentic age and character. With its generous size and sculptural presence, this lidded tureen is perfect as a functional serving piece or as a decorative centerpiece on a buffet or dining table. The lid is topped with a classic knob finial, and the wide matching plate underneath offers both practicality and grace. Whether you’re serving a hearty winter stew or simply displaying it among your finest antiques, this piece adds warmth and history to any space. Originating from France and dating likely from the early 19th century, this piece embodies the rustic sophistication of French country design. A rare find for collectors of antique faience or lovers of European ceramics.
