Antique & Important Dutch Hindeloopen Hand Painted Folk Art Tea Bucket w. Liner

About the Item

Handcrafted, rare and important 'tea bucket', early 1800s. For a museum quality, ultra rare and pure Dutch Folk Art antique from the early to mid 1800s there is always room in your home or collection. This marvelous and all handcrafted tea-bucket is also hand-painted and the antique decor all around could not be more Dutch (in general) and it could not be more pure Hindeloopen in particular. On the one side are the farmhouse with the adjacent hay barn, the trees and the windmill and on the other side are the typical Dutch, wooden flat bottom boats that many who have been to Holland must have seen and will never forget. Because of the paintings too this Hindeloopen antique is important, because the hand-painted scenes not only epitomize the 'soul and cultural history of Holland', the fertile land and the adjacent seas have also made it possible for us to transport our goods and do business all over the world from very early on. When this so called tea-bucket was hand-crafted some 200 years ago, Hindeloopen was a village on the coast of the, then called, Zuiderzee ('Southern Sea'). Today that part of the former Zuiderzee is known as the 'IJsselmeer'. Several villages around the Zuiderzee had their own type of hand-painted patterns, but somehow this Hindeloopen pattern with the scrolling leafs and flowers in red and green (and more) became the most desired and sought after. Mind you, you can search the worldwide web for days, but you still would not be able to find (let alone be able to purchase) another one of these early 1800's, Dutch, hand-painted, original, solid oak, great condition, Hindeloopen tea buckets. It even comes with the original brass liner and original bronze handle in mint condition as well. This is the type of antique that you will literally only find in a museum (or private collection). This truly rare find also is as strong and stabile as the day it left the artisan's studio, some 200 years ago. No matter what you decide to use it for and/or no matter where you decide to have it on display, this stunning, Dutch Folk Art bucket will never fail to impress. If you appreciate this antique and important eye-catcher as much as we do then maybe you should be its next custodian. Our fair price for this museum worthy antique includes perfect packing (in a custom made box) and also worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 days. Maximum height x diameter (including the bronze knobs of the handle): 13.2 x 15.3 inches. Diameter of the top x depth of the inside of the brass liner: 12.6 x 8.7 inches. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish yet practical and for craftsmanship of years gone by. Your purchases will be extremely well packaged and we look forward to serving you (again). You can shop all our 1000+ listings by pushing the button that reads 'View All From Seller'.

  • Rare & Hand Painted Near Antique Folk Art Metal Salmon Sign from Fish Monger's
    Located in Lisse, NL
Large size and all hand-crafted metal salmon sign. This vintage salmon sign is another one of our recent great finds. The former owner told us how he, about three decades ago, had purchased this unique antique in France. Over the years we have seen and sold all kinds of antiques, but this was only the second time that we had the opportunity to purchase a vintage (or near-antique) fish sign and we were immediately thrilled. Not only because of the extraordinary size, but also because of the rarity, the details and the marvelous colors. This kind of workmanship you simply don't find anymore in this day and age. We have searched the worldwide web and you simply cannot find these sculptural signs anywhere. The aging has made this salmon even more beautiful and realistic, because the crazing of the paint makes it look like you can see its scales. This handcrafted, folk-art-like antique looks like it is made of zinc, but we think it is thick tin. This large salmon will look great in a fish monger's, but it can also be the perfect decoration in the office of a salmon farm, in a fisherman's lodge, in a mancave or in a fishing (gear) shop. It was originally made to hang, either in an open space or up against the wall (as shown in our photos) but with one or two brackets this work of art could also be displayed on a very large desk...
