About the Item
Early 20th century fairground figure
An early 20th century hand carved French fairground knockdown figure in the form of Pierre Jean Marie Laval , in original untouched condition. With its original balance bracket still in place. This example would have been accompanied by other political leaders of the time, placed in a row and the public would have had the opportunity to throw wooden/sand filled balls at them in amusement at a fairground stall of sorts.
Pierre Jean Marie Laval (French pronunciation 28 June 1883 – 15 October 1945) was a French politician. During the third republic, he served a prime minister of France from 1931 to 1932 and from 1935 to 1936. He again occupied the post during the German occupation from 1942 to 1944.
