Early 20th century fairground figure An early 20th century hand carved French fairground knockdown figure in the form of Pierre Jean Marie Laval , in original untouched condition. With its original balance bracket still in place. This example would have been accompanied by other political leaders of the time, placed in a row and the public would have had the opportunity to throw wooden/sand filled balls at them in amusement at a fairground stall of sorts. Pierre Jean Marie Laval (French pronunciation 28 June 1883 – 15 October 1945) was a French politician. During the third republic, he served a prime minister of France from 1931 to 1932 and from 1935 to 1936. He again occupied the post during the German occupation from 1942 to 1944. Dimensions in inches: H 9.5” x W 5.5” x D 4” Age: Early 20th century Origin: France Condition: Worn This item shows natural wear and aging through obvious use. With a natural patination across its surface, over years of use this item has loss of paint, chips, dents and marks of surface damage as shown in the photos provided. The metal bracket hinge is rusty and old but firmly in place as intended, this item does not stand alone and has only been shown this way for advertising purposes, however by placing a small weight at the rear it can stand fine as we have done to photograph this example.
