About the Item
Vintage half-scale carved wood carousel figure by Robert Demechko (1938-1923). Called "Leo" a carved and bleached or limed wood figure of a standing male lion with glass eyes and decorative saddle blankets and saddle standing on a plinth base with leaves and vines raised on casters. Demechko was a self-taught sculptor. His artistic abilities flourished over time, winning him various art awards at the Butler Art Museum and Canfield Fair.
