About the Item

Ceramic cylinder-shaped jar features Folk Art style decor with highly detailed floral motifs and garlands, repeating on both front and back sides of the jar. The lid is decorated with a blue bird flying over a garland of flowers and leaves. The large motifs on the jar are hand painted in bright blue, soft yellow, burnt orange, fores green, and chocolate brown on light off-white background; they are framed on top and bottom with substantial black and dark brown bands. The rim of the lid is accented with thin black band, and the handle is decorated with black star. The inner surfaces are done in monochromatic off-white glaze. The jar is signed on the bottom with artist initials, Tonala Mexico, and model/decor numbers. Sculptural, decorative jar with whimsical, colorful design and high-quality craftsmanship will make a perfect addition to a wide range of interiors, from Traditional to Modern Country, Eclectic, Transitional, Organic Modern, Grand Millennial, Collected, or Contemporary. We are offering other examples of Mid Century Modern Tonala pottery, including cats and other animal figurines, in separate listings.
