African Senufo Large Heavy Janus Firespitter Helmet Mask Wanyugo

$1,349

About

This large zoomorphic shell decorated (likely cowrie shells) helmet mask was often worn at funerals of important elders and other ceremonies by members of the Senufo Tribe whose members span across regions of northern Ivory Coast, Southeastern Mali, and western Burkina Faso. Powerful and bold, these masks are made up of different iconographic elements of natural and local wild animals and beasts, a crocodile's jaws and teeth, an antelope's horns, a warthogs tusks, etc. These particular Senufo masks are rare and hard to come by. Would be a great addition to any African or tribal art collection and great Stand-alone piece. Dimensions: 9" high, 29" wide, 11" deep.
