British Sailor's Woolwork of Second Rate Royal Navy Ship with Flag Surround, Circa 1875 The sailor's woolwork or woolie depicts a starboard Second Rate Royal Navy ship under full sail on a calm, flat dark blue sea. The ship is within an oval panel with three ensigns to each side. On one side from the top the order is red, white and blue and to the left, blue, white and red. The center surmounted with a Royal Crown. Below is another vignette of a bay with a small yacht in the center sailing towards of fort flying a large Union Jack, the fort on a grassy green hill. The other side of the bay on the left is a tall lighthouse similarly placed. All within a dark wood ogee-shaped frame with a gilt slip. Dimensions: 23 inches high x 28 inches wide x 1 inch deep.
