About the Item

Early 20th century Folk Art whirligig model We are proud to offer charming one-off example of an early 20th century Folk Art whirligig model. This example would likely have been mounted to a post and spent most of its life out in the open, animated by the wind. The characters of an old farmer and his wife rowing back and forth still works, if abit temperamental. The propeller is missing however this does not detract from its simple charm and decorative appeal. This example is handcrafted from wood, still in its original condition and untouched in form. Size in inches: H 7” x W 5” x D 14” Origin: English Period: 1900-1920 Material: Wood and metal Condition report: This item has spent most of its life outside in the elements, its shows natural wear across all its surface, loss of paint and detail, rust across all its metal sections and a natural patina. The figures still move once the rob is spun however it is missing its propeller. Its strongly recommended to review all the photos provided as part of this advert and propose questions where sections are unclear to avoid disappointment.
