Vintage outsider painting on plywood by American Folk artist Black Joe Jackson (US 1922-1997).
The painting is titled "Gon Ta Zkol" and it depicts a woman and a little girl waiting at a bus stop.
The woman has a beautiful blue dress, a white necklace and a white hand bag with matching white shoes.
The girl is wearing a red dress and has a couple of thick books under her arm.
The piece is done on a piece of plywood and is signed and titled by the artist.
Measurements: 19 inches high x 13.75 inches wide x .25 inches thick (unframed).
Black Joe Jackson was a self-taught African-American artist born to a sharecropper family near Atlanta, Georgia in 1920. Jackson created paintings on wooden boards and used easily available materials such as house paint an scrap wood. He was born with dyslexia, and the writings on his paintings demonstrate this. He is oftentimes described as a folk artist or an outsider artist.
