About the Item

Old early Yaka slit drum, deep patina wear and polish from years of use, with original striker. From the Yaka people, Democratic Republic of Congo, early 20th century, on custom base. 13 1/2 inches high. These were used by striking the side of the slit drum in healing and divination ceremonies. Color is most accurate in the still images.
