Art Deco Chandelier in Murano Glass by Vittorio Zecchin circa 1925, Venini

About the Item

Truly a rare piece that doesn't come along often representing one fo the top modern masters of Murano glass for one of the top factories and in very distinct Art Deco style. We can attribute this chandelier safely to the era of Vittorio Zecchin as an artistic director for V.S.M. Cappellin Venini & C. which was from 1921 to 1926, as it bears distinctive signature techniques mastered by him. Firstly is the well know and documented design of the lamp, secondly are the colours used to achieve the dramatic contrast, a deep rich blue that appears almost black against the clear glass. And last the whole piece has the famous iridescence that was achieved by exposing the glass to titanium vapours, a technique no longer used due to the toxicity of the process. Condition: There are a couple imperfections to the piece, the top piece has a small sliver of about half an inch missing and 2 of the rice shaped middle pieces have rough edges and a crack in the middle of one. The final hanging glass drop could be a later replacement,The large Vase is intact and nothing is noticeable once the lamp is assembled.
