About the Item
Cocoon Crèation chandelier.
Suspension ball made of cocoon and decorated with multicolor paint sprays.
Cocoon is an interesting material that was exported to Italy in the 1960s.
It is a plastic material that is sprayed, forming silk-like filaments that overlap to create a kind of cocoon.
Flos company established to produce chandeliers with this technique with this technique credits its discovery to the German company "Goldkant Leuchten" founded in 1946.
The material and technique was then exported to Italy in the late 1950s Arturo Eisenkeil of Merano.
Eisenkeil together with Dino Gavina, the Castiglioni brothers, Ignazio Gardella and other leading manufacturers created Flos in the 1960s.
This fun chandelier was produced in the 1970s' and is in very good conservative condition.
It has no holes or defects and the cocoon has no yellowing, the only defect, a break, is found in the plastic cable cover as pictured, which is easily replaceable.
