Early 20th Century Rococo Style Dresden Porcelain Chandelier

About the Item

This small and gorgeous Dresden porcelain chandelier has three undulating arms with hanging floral bouquet baubles. Exceptional artistry, exemplifying a revival of the Rococo style. The body is made of an opulent white porcelain hand-painted and appointed with florals and gold detailing, whereas the light covers are separate cylinders made from a shimmering milk glass that mimics the look of porcelain. Dresden porcelain was a German company for the production of decorative and luxury porcelain. Founded in 1872 by designer Carl Thieme, originally ‘The Saxon Porcelain Manufactory of Carl Theime in Potschappel-Dresden’, which later became known as the Saxonian Porcelain Factory and then the Dresden Porcelain Manufactory. The town of Dresden was an important center of high-quality Rococo-style porcelain sculpture and tableware during the late 19th and 20th Centuries. The history of porcelain in Dresden has been intimately linked to the history of the nearby town of Meissen, which was the first in Europe to produce hard-paste porcelain ware. Most Dresden porcelain pieces were decorated in the Rococo revival style, and feature distinctive shell and flower decorations like this piece. This stunning fixture is the perfect floral centerpiece, making it a wonderful addition to any home looking for a feminine touch. Dimensions without ceiling cover and chain: H=25 in. W=17.5 in. D=17.5 in. 20 lbs.
