About the Item

An eye-catching eight arm chandelier from 19th century France reflecting transitional, stylistic influences from Bohemian to Belle Epoque. The combination of blue-green paint and parcel gilt metal has aged beautifully over the years, developing a crackled and oxidized patina. Decorative leaves in gold gilt featured on each arm of the chandelier reference the Neoclassical tradition but not are derivative. Gorgeous pendalogues and rosettes hang from the frame with spherical crystals set piercing the bobeche to scatter the light from the eight chandelier-base bulbs.
