About the Item

An exquisite and most decorative French 19th century Louis XVI Belle Époque period ormolu and marble chandelier. The five arm chandelier with lovely subject matter is centered by a bottom richly chased acorn finial amidst lovely finely detailed foliate designs and the impressive and most decorative topie shaped marble body. The body is encased by lovely Coeur de Rai, beaded and berried laurel bands with superb scrolled elements at each side from where the tied garland like ormolu supports lead upwards. The supports center the five stunning arms with four elegantly scrolled movements adorned with exceptional leaves leading to unique and most attractive floral candle cups and centering the single arm with a similar design. Above is the charming and finely detailed winged cherub seemingly flying while holding the garland supports in his hands.
