French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Ormolu and Crystal Chandelier
About the Item
A stunning French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and crystal chandelier. The six light chandelier is centered by a fine solid crystal pendant in the shape of a pear below additional finely cut crystal leaves. Above is a striking bottom reserve adorned with acanthus leaves, a bottom foliate finial and an elegant wrap around laurel band. Surrounding the ormolu body are six female masks from where the six wonderfully scrolled arms lead outward. Each mask is decorated with stunning crystal pendants and set on a luxuriant Vitruvian scrolled background. Each of the six arms display an elegant 'S' scrolled design and are adorned with beautiful large acanthus leaves, stunning grape shaped crystal pendants and leading to foliate and beaded candlecups. The central reeded support is accented by six 'C' scrolled movements leading to charming grape clusters. Above is the striking panier designed top crown with elegant ormolu laurel sprays decorated with vividly color crystal grape clusters.
