Glass Pendant Light Vilhelm Wohlert & Louis Poulson Denmark, 1940s
About the Item
Description:
Designed in 1949 by Vilhelm Wohlert in collaboration with Louis Poulson, this globe pendant is made from a thick, opaque, white glass, which softly diffuses light evenly throughout. The bottom has a hole with the diameter of 14cm, shooting brighter light directly downwards. Timeless and classic in its form, the spherical orbs hark to the simplicity of art deco, we have wired the pair with antique brown flex.
Perhaps Wohlert's greatest achievement was in his collaboration in the architectural design of Louisiana Museum of Modern Art (completed 1958) in Humlebaek, Denmark - for which he was awarded the Eckersberg Medal and the Træprisen, both in 1958.This light has been fully rewired to UK standard and refinished with an antique-effect, woven brown cord.
