About the Item

A sensational Italian late 18th early 19th century giltwood, metal and glass chandelier. The top spray is connected by two rows of beaded glass garlands with pendants. Below the arms of the second spray are beaded on the sides with ornate and fanciful pressed metal medallions and pendants in between. Eight 'C' scrolled metal arms also beaded at the sides with saucers displaying pendants and candlecups. The second spray is joined to the eight arms with various draped and interconnected garlands. A giltwood acorn finial tops the foliate carved fut, and at the base a scroll and cabachon surround with very elegant beaded pendants and an acorn finial underneath. Rosettes and various shapes of original cut glass beads and gilt throughout.
