About the Item
A design classic from the Italian manufacturer Danese Milano based on a design by Bruno Munari from the 1960s.
The most striking element of this lamp is the textile shade. The stretch fabric is partly stretched with rings and contracts concavely between them. This creates a rhythmic pattern that characterizes the Falkland lights. The fabric shade rests on a funnel-shaped reflector made of aluminum. Inside, the socket sits high up so that the bulb is barely visible and the light is primarily emitted onto the shade via the reflector. The canopy is designed with a mounting bracket to match the shape and color of the reflector. The lamp is in very good condition and has hardly any signs of wear. This piece has an attribution mark, It is completely authentic for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution, Up to 250V (Europe/UK Standard). The wiring of this item may be original and might need replacement, if not specified otherwise.

Bruno Munari
In his prolific career, Bruno Munari was known for various contributions to art, industrial design, film, architecture, art theory, and technology. Munari’s principles and beliefs were built upon his early involvement in the Futurist movement, which he joined at the age of 19 using the pseudonym “Bum.” During the 1930s, Munari began to move towards Constructivism, particularly with his kinetic sculptures, Useless Machines (begun 1933), meant to transform or complicate their surrounding environments. Throughout his career, Munari was captivated by both a sense of whimsy and the manipulation of artificial light. After World War II, Munari also developed radical innovation in graphics, typography, and book publishing, through the latter creating pieces he would call Useless Books.
