Jean Noverdy Art Deco Stork Pendant Chandelier, 1920
About the Item
French Art Deco Pendant Chandelier by Jean Noverdy, France, Late 1920s
This exquisite French Art Deco pendant chandelier, designed by Jean Noverdy in the late 1920s, showcases a beautifully frosted molded glass shade featuring a graceful depiction of three storks. The shade is mounted on a silver-plated, stamped brass frame, creating a sophisticated contrast of textures and materials.
The chandelier's dimensions are as follows: Height: 20.5" (52 cm), which can be shortened to suit your space; Width: 13.8" (35 cm). It is delivered fully wired for your country (available for the US, UK, EU, Australia, China, and more). The fixture is compatible with LED lighting for modern energy efficiency.
Jean Noverdy, a talented student of Mr. Dubret, established his own glassworks in Dijon, France, at 17, Place Bossuet, where he specialized in creating art glass. His lamps were of frosted glass or featured two-layer glass shades with pulverized colored enamels between the layers, creating a stunning marble-like appearance. Noverdy’s technique is similar to that of other renowned French glassmakers of the period, including Daum Frères, André Delatte, and Muller Frères, with an emphasis on high-quality craftsmanship. He also worked with acid-etched glass, these items are very rare, often influenced by the famous École de Nancy style.
Between 1926 and 1928, Noverdy exhibited his works at the Salon de la Société des Artistes Français in Paris, contributing to the flourishing Art Deco movement of the era. This chandelier is a true testament to the elegance and artistry of the period.
