Large Chandelier, Murano Light Fume Glass in Oval Spiral Ribbed Elements 7 Tiers

About the Item

Color is the wonderful and Murano exclusive Fume color. An amber brown used often in lighting because of its best play with light. This beautiful chandelier carries over 120 elements overlapping each other to cover the frame. Each element is a spiral of a ribbed glass, the spiral is flattened. See the photos from below. Light fume color appears tea color when unlit and gets warmer when lit. It's one of the most difficult color that Murano glass makers were able to do, it's called fume, not because it resemble smoke but the technique is to reduce the air in the crucible, bringing reduction, to the smoking point. It's a sort of Raku reaction. For this reason the color comes in many shades of mezzetinta amber/mustard/gray colors and it's hard to keep the color the same for the whole production of the pieces. The light fume used is to avoid shading the light too much. This taupe gray bring warmth but not being too bright will work well with both a modern and a classic home. The element catches the light and being with grooves crossing each other, the result is a complex refraction of the light. Really beautiful The element is 40 cm 16 inches high. I counted more than 120 elements. Identifications, references: There is a common attribution to Vistosi on this chandelier so diffused that I am keeping it as in the style of and attributed to. This is important to keep as this is widely known as The Vistosi chandelier in research. Unknown maker, there is a large range of producers of these multiple elements, From Vistosi do Barovier. Chandelier will be complimentary wired over to buyer's code. White hardware, carries 8 bulbs for a great light output.
