Large Impressive Louis XV Bronze d’Ore and Crystal Chandelier, Mid-19th Century

About the Item

This French Louis XV multi-tier chandelier is made of beautiful bronze d’ore and dates back to the 19th century. The piece features a stunning 45 lights, and is adorned with a plethora of crystal; large plaquettes can be seen in various shapes, often with accompanying fleurettes, crystal spears stand at attention on the exterior, the stem itself is crystal, and a fantastic large crystal ball finial with a lapidary cut rests at bottom. Finally, Bronze d’ore candle cups sit above floriate shaped bobeches Each piece in our shop is professionally rewired and in working order. Each chandelier comes with a vintage canopy, three feet of chain, and ample wire, and all materials needed to mount. Each piece is newly wired with UL approved wire and sockets and is fully operable. The piece is part of the collection from The French Antique Shop, a fourth generation antique store in the heart of the French Quarter of New Orleans. A space that was created and curated at first by Marie and Marcelle and Granet. Their first shop was located in the heart of Paris, and opened in 1919 after they migrated to Paris from Romania post World War I. Shortly after establishing themselves in Paris, as a Jewish family they were forced to flee in the late 1930s before World War II. Marie and Marcel opened up their shop in New Orleans in 1939, the city in which this antique collection has grown and continues to flourish. The store is now run by the third and fourth generation, Marc, Michael, and Brian Friedlander, and is a highly curated space filled with rare antiquities, fine antique lighting, eclectic fixtures, and everything in between. We have imported all the antique items in our collection directly from France.

This immaculate Gothic Revival Chandelier features fantastically detailed and patterned bronze d’ore. The French antique piece dates back to the 19th century and sports a spiraling fluted crown at top.
