About the Item

French Art Deco Chandelier by Maison Leune, Paris, 1920s — Bronze & Granite Glass. A rare and elegant French Art Deco pendant chandelier by Maison Leune, crafted in the 1920s at their famed studio at 28bis rue du Cardinal Lemoine, in the heart of Paris. This refined three-light fixture features thick enameled “granite glass” shades—known for their unique speckled surface and rich visual texture—suspended from a solid bronze frame with clean, geometric lines characteristic of the Art Deco era. The fixture is signed "Leune" on one of the shades (see photo), confirming its authenticity and adding to its collector's value. Height: 25.6 in. (65 cm) Diameter: 22 in. (56 cm) Condition: Very good original condition with natural patina to the bronze. Wiring: Professionally rewired for modern use with B22 sockets, ready to install in your country (US, UK, EU, China, Australia, etc.). LED-compatible. About Maison Leune Founded around 1900, Société Anonyme des Etablissements Leune was located at 28bis rue du Cardinal Lemoine, Paris. Initially known for romantic, hand-enameled landscape scenes, the firm transitioned into more modern, geometric Art Deco aesthetics in the 1920s. During this golden era, Paul Daum (of the famous Daum Frères glass family) served as director, and the firm collaborated closely with Auguste-Claude Heiligenstein, who designed many of Leune’s most iconic works between 1923 and 1926. Daum supplied the undecorated glass, which Leune’s artists richly enameled by hand—resulting in pieces of refined elegance and technical mastery. Leune also produced a line of molded-pressed glass vases under the "Etaleune" signature, visually echoing designs by Muller Frères, further affirming their place within the elite Art Deco glassmaking tradition. This chandelier reflects the pinnacle of Leune's design language: restrained yet luxurious, with artisanal detailing and robust craftsmanship.
