Mid-Century Murano Ceiling Light with White Filigrana

About the Item

This mid-century Murano ceiling light is adorned with delicate white thin stripes. The shape of this fixture resembles a covered lantern, and the spirals create soft patterns on the wall when illuminated. The striping comes from the Filigrana technique, a style of blown glass that originated in the 16th century on the island of Murano, Italy. "Filigrana" is Italian for "filigree glass" and refers to blown glass made with colorless, white, and sometimes colored canes. The glasshouses on the island of Murano are famous for their highly ornamented glass chandeliers made of pincered and molded blown glass. This elegant fixture showcases a mastery of Venetian glass craftsmanship. This spiraled piece is truly mesmerizing and would be a wonderful addition to any bedroom, kitchen, or study. Rewired: This chandelier has been rewired to meet US electrical standards and takes three candelabra-size bulbs (incandescent or LED). The fixture includes a ceiling cover as shown and can be installed flush with the ceiling. Wear consistent with age and use. When lifting the glass top to change the light bulbs, be cautious not to let the two pieces of glass slam together, as this could cause them to shatter.
