About the Item
Streamlined Aluminum Ceiling Lamp from the Historic May Company Wilshire. This sleek, mid-century aluminum ceiling fixture features its original frosted glass shade, topped with a polished aluminum neck that adds a touch of industrial refinement. The fixture hangs at 34 inches and can be easily adjusted to your desired height.
These lamps were originally installed in the iconic May Company department store on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles. The building itself is a celebrated example of Streamline Moderne architecture, designed by the prominent firm A.C. Martin, who served as the principal architects. The interiors were strongly influenced by Samuel Marx, whose modernist vision helped define the store’s elegant, forward-thinking aesthetic.
