Poul Henningsen and Kurt Nørregaard Grand 'LP Centrum' Pendant

About the Item

Poul Henningsen and Kurt Nørregaard for Louis Poulsen, pendant 'LP Centrum', aluminum, Denmark, 1990 This illuminating fixture was meticulously crafted using the mathematical 'Lituus Curve' as its design foundation. Ten circle-shaped shades, placed on vertical ribs, make sure the light is equally divided. The spectator has no direct view on the light source itself, and the lamp does not cast shadow. That fact makes this lamp very suitable for the eyes while reading or dining. The design originates from Poul Henningsen. Kurt Nørregaard developed it into this giant pendant. Overall, this design is beautiful and clever in its form, but also very elegant and a lovely piece to add to a dining space or hall way. Please note that this item is in good, used condition with signs of age and use, including some scratches and a small fissure. For further details, we encourage you to reach out to our team of design specialists.

  • Poul Henningsen Ph 2/1 Pendant
    By Poul Henningsen, Louis Poulsen
    Located in Berkeley, CA
The fixture design is based on the principle of a reflective three-shade system, which directs the majority of the light downwards. The shades are made of hand-blown, opal, three-layer glass, which is glossy on top and sandblasted matte on the underside, giving a soft and uniform light distribution. Poul Henningsen designed the three-shade system during 1925/1926. The first lights using the system were designed for an exhibition in Paris. His work with Louis Poulsen continued until his death in 1967. Throughout his life, PH sought to create glare-free lighting; aiming to direct light where it was most needed, and creating soft shadows while using incandescent bulbs as a light source. The PH 2...
