LARGE GREY ENAMEL FACTORY PENDANT LIGHTS 7 AVAILABLE AT THE TIME OF LISTING A nice run of original vintage factory pendant lights salvaged from a Industrial factory in Sheffield. The Industrial light fittings date to the early 1950s and were manufactured by F W Thorpe Ltd more commonly known as Thorlux Lighting. These grey enamel Thorlux Industrial light fittings are a beautiful and versatile piece of lighting that can be used to add a touch of Industrial style to any space, made from ultra durable vitreous enamel and is also very efficient, making it a great choice for businesses and homes that are looking to save money on their energy bills. Know as overlap reflectors the lower reflector shade is designed to be removed easily even during operation for fast and easy cleaning. Thorlux used 'SLIP-IT-ON SLIP-IT-OFF, OVER THE LAMP FOR CLEANING" as their slogan of the time. Considering these Industrial light fittings have been in use in a factory environment for 70 years, the design has stood the test of time both in durability terms and style, the pendant have an incredible clean design lending its self to host of interiors both for the home or business. Overall the shades are in very good condition however there are obviously signs of use with main some areas on enamel loss to the bottom edges of the shades. ABOUT THE MANUFACTURER F W THORPE LTD (Thorlux LIGHTING) Thorlux Lighting was founded in 1936 by Frederick William Thorpe in Small Heath, Birmingham, England. Thorpe was a self-taught engineer who had a passion for lighting. He saw an opportunity to create a better way to light factories, workshops, mills, and farm buildings, and he set out to do just that. Thorpe's first product was a vitreous enamelled shade for lighting factories. These shades were made from a durable Material that could withstand the harsh conditions of a factory environment. They were also very efficient, which helped to save businesses money on their energy bills. Thorlux's products quickly gained popularity, and the company began to grow rapidly. In the 1950s, Thorlux began manufacturing fluorescent lighting fixtures. Fluorescent lights were a new technology at the time, and Thorlux was one of the first companies to make them available in the UK. When renovating our original reclaimed lighting all existing electrical parts are removed and renewed with modern electrical components. All components used are CE certified and our lights are wired & tested in line with BSEN Standards. As standard our lights come with 1m of our premium fabric three core cable to a colour of your choice unless stated otherwise in the product description. Generally, ES or BS lamp holders are used unless otherwise stated and are fully compatible with main dimmers and modern LED filament bulbs. Our lights can be wired to bespoke specifications, longer lengths, different cable types and compatibility with specialist dimming systems such as DALI can all be accommodated. Lights supplied to U.S.A and Canada are installed using UL Certified cable and lamp holders. As standard we supply round black fabric cable and E26 holders. Please note that although we use UL certified components our original reclaimed lights do not come with UL certification. Due to the antique nature of our original vintage lights, we cannot offer an official IP rating and cannot guarantee our lights for external use.
