About the Item
This exquisite Russian chandelier features incredibly fine rock crystal and a bronze d’ore frame. The rock crystal can be found most notably in the magnificent and massive center stem, as well as the spears on the upper tier. The shape of the piece, the arms especially, is extremely unique, and the detail on the cups and bobeches is incredibly fine. Notice the bronze hooks draping from the rock crystal center, a shape mirrored in the bronze elements resting on the rock crystal spears. The arms on the upper tier wrap around themselves giving added detail and movement, and pieces of amethyst can be found alternating at the top. The piece dates back to the 1860s.
Each piece in our shop is professionally rewired and in working order. Each chandelier comes with a vintage canopy, three feet of chain, and ample wire, and is newly wired with UL approved wire and sockets and is fully operable.
The piece is part of the collection from The French Antique Shop, a fourth generation antique store in the heart of the French Quarter of New Orleans. A space that was created and curated at first by Marie and Marcelle and Granet. Their first shop was located in the heart of Paris, and opened in 1919 after they migrated to Paris from Romania post World War I. Shortly after establishing themselves in Paris, as a Jewish family they were forced to flee in the late 1930s before World War II. Marie and Marcel opened up their shop in New Orleans in 1939, the city in which this antique collection has grown and continues to flourish. The store is now run by the third and fourth generation, Marc, Michael, and Brian Friedlander, and is a highly curated space filled with rare antiquities, fine antique lighting, eclectic fixtures, and everything in between. We have imported all the antique items in our collection directly from France.

This Magnificent Louis XV Rococo chandelier of finely chiseled castings features bronze d’ore candle cups and bobeches with a solid crystal center.
