Swedish Modern Nine Arm Chandelier in Brass and Decorated Opal Glass, 1950s

This striking chandelier was produced Sweden in the late 1950s. The fixture consists of a ceiling cup and central brass stem with the five brass arms attached to the lower centre. The distinct shades are made of a matte white opaline glass. The three-dimensional studded pattern of the glass gives the shades a beautiful and interesting texture, both when the lamp is turned on and off. Other noteworthy details include the brass finials and the middle part of the stem in black lacquered metal. This striking four arm chandelier was designed by Harald Notini and produced by Arvid Böhlmarks Lampfabrik in Sweden, circa 1927. This particular model numbered 6316 is a great example of the unique Swedish Grace style of this period. The striking design consists of four marbled glass shades with a slightly undulating, scalloped rim. The shades are attached to brass holders with a serrated shape, connected to the centre by brass arms in a beautiful curved shape. The sphere shaped centre of the fixture with serrated decorative details throughout, with a separate hanging sphere attached to the lowest part of the lamp. This hanging sphere can be easily removed if desired. The fixture is entirely executed in nickel plated brass which has developed a beautiful and natural patina over time.
