Vintage Baroque Style Cristallo Murano Chandelier with Azure Blue Trim and Gold
About the Item
This handcrafted cristallo Murano chandelier has three scroll arms and features a bulbous center column with sprouting natural details, stylized here with leaves and scroll ornaments. The body and arms are made of clear, colorless Venetian glass adorned with intricate azure trim on frond motifs. The glass features dynamic surface textures, including swirling on the cups and a lattice design on the center and bowl. The glass surrounds a golden brass internal bowl, center stem, and candle sleeves which create an additional golden glow that complements the blue trim details. The clear finial has flecks of gold that add to the golden glimmer.
The glasshouses on the island of Murano are famous for ornamented glass chandeliers made of pincered and molded blown glass. This elegant chandelier showcases a mastery of Venetian glass craftsmanship. This chandelier references the ‘Ca'Rezzonico’ style of chandeliers created by Giuseppe Briati — an 18th-century Murano glass master. The ‘Ca'Rezzonico’ style is named for the Venetian palace, today a public museum dedicated to 18th century Venice, where Briati’s initial masterpiece resides.
This chandelier evokes the splendor of the past centuries through delicate decorations, refined craftsmanship, and an elegant structure. The Cristallo glass creates a warm atmosphere when illuminated and the vivid blue details offer a unique flair to any interior.

- Condition:Rewired: Rewired to US electrical standards, it takes 3 candelabra-size lights, incandescent or LED. Three feet of wire at the top can be adjusted to the preferred length. This fixture requires a canopy and chain which is not included. Wear consistent with age and use. Finial is missing a tiny piece on the trim. 1 of the swirl stems has a flea-bit chip on the end. Another leaf has a flea-bit chip on the margin and stalk. A scroll has a chip on the spot near the blue crest. Ships disassembled and requires assembly.
