This rare floor lamp, designed by master designer Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte, is an extraordinary example of 1950s Italian design, where art, light and matter come together in perfect balance.
The slender frame rests on a circular black painted metal base, elegant in its essentiality, with a central brass detail that anticipates the elegance of the upper details. The stem leads to a visually striking light composition: two finely crafted ground glass ellipses wrap around the central light source and create a dance of reflections and transparencies. The whole is enclosed by a brass ring that acts as a suspended frame, emphasizing the geometry and formal rigor of the design.
Light and material converse in a refined way: when lit, the lamp gives off a soft, enveloping light, made vibrant by the refraction of the ground glass. When turned off, it remains a sculptural object with strong aesthetic value.
