Giancarlo Mattioli for Sirrah 'MT' Floor or Table Lamp

About the Item

Giancarlo Mattioli for Sirrah, 'MT' floor or table lamp, lacquered aluminum, chrome-plated steel, Italy, 1969 The versatile Italian designer, architect, and urban planner Giancarlo Mattioli (1933-2018) designed this MT lamp for Sirrah. A creator of contemporary icons, Mattioli consistently embraced innovative thinking without constraints. The MT lamp is a prime example of that. Made in one of the most influential years in the fields of furniture design, the lamp's construction features a hemispherical shade inserted with evenly spaced plane sheets. The light beautifully escapes through the gaps, creating a diffused glow of light strokes reminiscent of sunlight that streams through the clouds. The MT lamp is a highly innovative piece of lighting with a strong sense of three-dimensionality and adaptability.
