Whether luminous architecture or glass sculpture, Hollow makes bodiless light a tangible object. Hollow proposes a new concept of floor lamping, unlike the traditional light that serves to illuminate other objects, it commands centre stage. Hollow’s shapely form lends sculptural gravitas – whether illuminated or dormant.
Hollow by Dan Yeffet is a robust sculptural work that is brought
to life through a surprisingly delicate process of choreographed
breathing. First, molten glass is extracted from a superheated oven
before being applied to the end of a blowing rod – a long hollow
metal tube via which a glassblower introduces air from their lungs
into the molten mass.
