About the Item

A gorgeous and extremely rare Mid Century Italian pedestal alabaster floor lamp in lovely vintage condition. Hand carved in Italy, most likely in the 1950s, this fabulously charming piece will enhance any interior with its gorgeous colouring and luxuriously shapely outline and will add refined Hollywood Regency styling and a sumptuous ‘Lake Como villa’ aesthetic to any interior. Impressively sized and reassuringly heavy, this sumptuous piece was expertly crafted and is a celebration of fabulous and shapely Italian hand-carved detailing throughout – from the impressive tiered base to the attractive and useful shelf, the elegant neck and spherical interlinking sections. With its reassuringly heavy weight and stunning patterning, you’d be forgiven for thinking this is made of marble – such is the quality of the stone and its wonderful hues, ranging from yellow to grey with orange and white inflections. But fortunately, this lovely piece still has its original label to the underside of the shelf, to prove us wrong! All in all this is an extremely rare knockout of a piece, which invokes all the high society glamour and fabulous, refined luxury of the Hollywood Regency era – so rare in fact, we’re unlikely to see another. CONDITION This is in good vintage condition. Structurally sound and reassuringly heavy, it has the original label to the underside of the table and the usual minor marks and chips to denote its not-inconsiderable age. Sold without wiring, we recommend the buyer instructs a professional electrician to rewire. Overall it’s an incredible, standout piece in lovely vintage condition and if well looked after it should be just as magnificent for generations to come – please see the photos.
