About Charlotte Wawer (1905–1990)

Having trained in applied arts, she was influenced by the Bauhaus ethos of uniting craft and design, though she pursued a quieter, more material-focused path than some of her contemporaries. While never produced on an industrial scale, her designs are increasingly recognised as distinctive examples of postwar German modernism, reflecting a sensitivity to both function and atmosphere.
