Pair of Art Deco Torchiers in Walnut and Nickel

About the Item

These dramatic torchieres were made in Budapest, Hungary according to authentic 1930s original designs. The shaft and base are poplar wood, covered in walnut veneer. The upward-flaring shade and other fittings are nickel-plated aluminum. During the 1930s and early 1940s, Budapest was an important center of luxury furniture-making, particularly in the Art Deco Style.
