Pair of French 19th Century Renaissance Style Ormolu and Bronze Torchières

About the Item

A sensational and large-scale pair of French 19th century Renaissance st. ormolu and patinated bronze eleven light floor lamps / torchières attributed to Henri Picard. Each floor lamp is raised by a fine triangular base with concave sides and a mottled edge. The stunning support displays richly chased and magnificently scrolled foliate movements with the most impressive and detailed roaring lion heads. At the center are patinated bronze finial and a reeded central basket with an outstanding tied ormolu band, foliate patterns, and a beaded band. The fluted tapered patinated bronze central support displays a most elegant bottom ormolu foliate pattern and acanthus leaf design above. The spectacular candelabras-style arms above display lightly scrolled movements, exceptional details, and most richly chased acanthus leaves, finely etched candle cups, and bobeches.
