About the Item

This floor lamp was produced by Markslöjd in Kinna, Sweden, in the 1960s. It bears the Markslöjd label and model number on the underside of the base and on the brass fitting. The design features a sculptural, organically shaped frame resting on a circular base made of solid beech wood, finished in a dark brown stain. A brass and wood shade holder with a wooden light switch adds to its functional elegance. The coolie-shaped shade has been newly upholstered in ivory-white, linen-textured fabric and is adjustable to various positions. This is a striking example of Scandinavian Modern lighting. The lamp is in very good condition, with a renewed shade. It comes fitted with a 220V European plug and a standard E26/E27 bulb socket. Other designers working in the Scandinavian Modern style include Hans Bergström, Paavo Tynell, Hans Agne Jakobsson and Carl Malmsten.
